Checklist and troubleshooting

✓ Lab-tested 18 October 2026 on VyOS 2026.10.16-0024-rolling, FRR 10.2.1

Checklist

  • Two reflectors, on different hardware, and every client peering with both.
  • route-reflector-client on the reflectors only; clients need nothing special.
  • Reflectors peer with each other as ordinary iBGP peers.
  • Every client can reach every other client's next hop (IGP for loopbacks; next-hop-self on edges for external routes).
  • Distinct cluster IDs unless you have a reason to share one.
  • A reflector doesn't need to be in the forwarding path, but if it is, it must have every route it reflects in its own FIB.
